For over twenty years I’ve maintained a clinical therapy practice treating adult and adolescent patients. After graduating from Cornell University, I completed a Doctorate in Psychology and an internship in cognitive behavioral therapy. I also taught as a professor of educational psychology at the State University of New York at New Paltz and directed the Women’s Studies Program at the College of New Rochelle.
The American Psychological Association honored me as a Fellow for my notable work on gender issues, and the Westchester County Psychological Association named me distinguished psychologist of the year. I've appeared many times on national media shows including Oprah, Good Morning America, Larry King, the Today show, 20/20 and CNN.
I’ve served on the editorial board of Eating Disorders: Journal of Treatment and Prevention and on the advisory council of the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies. I've been a key note presenter at many professional conferences and served as a member of an FDA panel that ruled on the safety of silicone breast implants.
